Looking to bridge the gap between personal investing and market analysis, Aries is a Fintech start up with a bright future. Founded on using the latest technology and offering entry level investors smart money techniques, their iOS app seeks to lead the charge in an already saturated market.
Aries is a small Detroit based startup with big dreams, a limited budget and even more limited resources so taking on this project came with a set of specific challenges. Most notably being trying to figure out the best way to make a small fintech company set on challenging the status quo stand out amongst its more well established competitors.
After a small round of competitive research, it was clear that Aries would be categorized the same as its much larger counterparts, namely Robinhood, WeBull and TD Ameritrade's Think or Swim. Which lead me down a path of building a design system first that would ultimately be applied to a MVP app that would ultimately become available to the public.
For Aries, goal number one was to create a beautifully design app based on human-centered design principles with a user experience so good it felt almost invisible. Goal number two was to ensure the design felt slightly familiar to users so the complex data was easier to digest. And finally, making overall design could withstand the pressure of Aries' larger competitors which to date has withstood the test of time. Aries is now the first Open Source FINRA/SIPC Member Brokerage.
Built on a fully responsive design system, and building off the minimalist approach to desktop, we ensured a smooth and seamless transition to mobile which included re-invisioning the navigation.
