A fusion and delicate balancing act between design and the world of content creation.

This was another extremely challenging yet fun project I had the opportunity to work on during my time at BarrelNY, alongside two really talented designers. Brought on during a revamping process, this six month project entailed designing and updating several portions of Well+Good's Website.

The challenge here was founded on two fronts — 1) from an execution standpoint, finding ways to stay reserved creatively, and 2) becoming accustomed to and understanding a new client in a relatively short amount of time. With a polished design system in place, overcoming these two challenges became significantly easier.

Focus areas included discovering new ways to layout sponsored content on the W+G Homepage and Article page, as well as honing on specific area's of the About Us page and redesigning the Shop-able Email and Experts page.

Additional upgrades include inline shoppable and related list components.

Enhancing small yet critically important aspects of Well+Good.

Crucial to the nature of their content, Well+Good incorporates "Experts" that readers can use as a reference after digesting an article. The redesign of this section of the site called for simplifying the information architecture as much as possible.

While the previous design allowed for solid color-blocked backgrounds, images and type, the new structure takes on a more minimal look with light grey borders for separation, the reduction of imagery and contrasting brand colors allowing the page to breath easier.

Scalability

Refining the mobile experience.

Built on a fully responsive design system, and building off the minimalist approach to desktop, we ensured a smooth and seamless transition to mobile which included re-invisioning the navigation.

“Good design is like a refrigerator—when it works, no one notices, but when it doesn’t, it sure stinks.”
