Implementing a new way education and retail co-exist through empathy and simplicity.

Barnes & Noble is arguably one of the most well known names in the world. And while its bookstores are filled with avid readers, it has only been in recent years that people have come to associate the name with education — the Barnes & Noble College. I joined this project in collaboration with Chicago based design agency Rocket Wagon.

Unlike previous projects, the overwhelming challenge here was comprised of utilizing unique typography, subtle hints of minimal design, and highlighting products — while staying within the brand guidelines and ensuring that the Barnes & Noble look and feel was maintained throughout.

Scalability

Refining the mobile experience.

Built on a fully responsive design system, and building off the minimalist approach to desktop, we ensured a smooth and seamless transition to mobile which included re-invisioning the navigation.
